Upper Echelon Academy of Wellington, Florida provides individualized tutoring services and an accredited program for students year round. We have enrollment options for full-time and seasonal students. We pride ourselves on creating individualized schedules with the highest quality instruction.
Our year round program offers exceptional curriculum in each content area, including over 20 college board AP courses for our high school students. Upper Echelon Academy tailors educational plans to support and enrich the academic experience for each individual. Our professional instruction, combined with the top curriculum available in each subject and individual education plans, guarantees academic excellence for every learner.
For seasonal academics, we work one-on-one with students, and closely with trainers, around competitions in order to meet the academic goals of every student. Our UEA Primary Academy, offers developmentally appropriate group learning for students during WEF in order to provide curriculum continuity.
Clementine obtained a Bachelor of the Arts from Brown University in Rhode Island, where she worked as a tutor and mentor with the Brown Refugee Youth Tutoring and Enrichment Program. As a junior equestrian, she traveled frequently and balanced her rigorous academic course load with the demanding horse show schedule. Once accepted to one of the nation’s top universities, Clementine continued competing nationally and internationally on the equestrian circuit without sacrificing her high academic standing. She works with high school and college students to strengthen writing skills, manages relationships with schools, and oversees tutor-student progress.
Kate Bomgaars graduated from Carroll University with a double major in Business Marketing and Graphic Communications and a minor in Leadership. During college, Kate balanced competing in Wellington FL on the weekends and a full university course load. Kate graduated with distinction while simultaneously recording victories at Spruce Meadows, WEF, and Madison Square Garden. Having balanced academics and a competitive equestrian career, Kate helps UEA students as they venture down the same path.
Heather graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development and Learning and a minor in French from Maryville College. She completed a semester study abroad in Angers, France. As a licensed classroom teacher, she then taught French for four years and Kindergarten for two years at the Episcopal School of Knoxville before she left classroom teaching in order to focus on her riding. Heather has tutored students of all ages in writing, foreign language, and mathematics. A competitive dressage rider with USDF bronze and silver medals, she understands the importance of balancing academic goals with outside priorities. She enjoys combining her passion for education and her love of riding by helping young equestrians have successful educational experiences.
Nate attended the University of California Berkeley and the University of Georgia, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Since his graduation in 2009, he has been educating young equestrian athletes in Wellington, FL while following the horse show circuit with his wife, Haylie Jayne Rolfe. Nate is the Dean of Students at Upper Echelon Academy, although he also specializes in Mathematics, a range of Sciences, and Finance.
While double majoring in Economics and Political Science, Kristiane graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mount Holyoke College with a 4.0 GPA. She started tutoring her first year of college and has worked with students in almost every subject, ranging from elementary to university level courses. In 2004, Kristiane began working at InfoBase Publishers, first as a Defense Competitive Intelligence Analyst, and later as a DACIS (Defense and Aerospace Competitive Intelligence Service) Training Manager. She continues to work remotely for InfoBase, delivering competitive intelligence in the defense and aerospace industries, while also tutoring upper-level humanities, Economics, and Finance for Upper Echelon Academy students.
Richard graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University. He then attended the Sloan School at MIT where he received his Master’s in Industrial Management. At Touche Ross & Co. (currently Deloitte & Touche), Richard worked as a Management Consultant, the Director of Marketing, and then the Director of Health Care Consulting before being admitted to partnership. He was also the Chief Administrative Officer of the U.S. M&A Practice at Deutsche Bank and continues to serve as a Principal in the Triad Advisory Group. Richard tutors Upper Echelon Academy Students in Finance, Economics, Statistics, and Accounting.
Garrett received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Gannon University in Erie, PA. Since graduating, he has been tutoring various students in Biology and Mathematics, from high school to graduate level. Garrett has experience with learning disability support, in addition to advanced teaching methods for early education Mathematics.
When Marchant was in sixth grade, his parents had him audit College Algebra. From that point, he remained accelerated in math. In high-school, he fell in love with languages. He attended Auburn University and obtained degrees in Electrical Engineering and Spanish while minoring in French. Beyond his core subjects, Marchant’s passion for learning and well-rounded knowledge prompted him to take elective classes in several other languages, film, theatre, and philosophy. Since college, he has worked in food service, played poker semi-professionally, worked as a director of communications for an agricultural/humanitarian company, worked for the US Census, and taught after-school programs. Working in many different fields has given him an appreciation for connecting with people, and he likes to think that he can have a conversation with anyone on almost any subject. He enjoys sharing his love of learning through teaching and has worked with pre-schoolers through high-schoolers over the years in a variety of settings and in a wide variety of subjects. In his free moments, Marchant enjoys spending time with his wife and two toddlers, reading, and traveling the world.
Emmi graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Florida. She then completed a Master’s of Science in Medical Sciences from the University of Florida College of Medicine. She will be attending medical school in the fall to fulfill her dream of becoming a pediatrician. She has experience working with students from elementary school through college, and specializes in helping students in biological sciences, mathematics, reading, and French.
Marcia Anderson received her B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross in Classics and Biology. She then received her Masters at Florida State University in Classical Philology (Latin & Greek) with a concentration in Museum Studies, where she was awarded the Kathleen Ranking Prize for the Most Outstanding Graduate Student in the Classics.
In her second year at Florida State University, she was selected as the Trench Supervisor for the Cetamura del Chianti archaeological excavation in Radda, Italy. Her work with late Etruscan and early Roman artifacts helped land her a vital position with the Mary Brogan Museum of Art and Science in Tallahassee, FL., where she developed exhibits and installation pieces. After graduating from Florida State as Valedictorian, she moved to Miami, FL to teach Latin and Roman studies at Doctors Charter School, and now as an Latin Professor at Florida Atlantic University. She is currently a Doctoral Student in Latin and Roman Studies at the University of Florida.
Marcia also enjoys playing and teaching violin, and ballet. In her native Cincinnati, OH, she studied Classical Violin and Ballet at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and the Cincinnati Youth Symphony Orchestra, and traveled extensively to perform both at competitions and concerts.
Erika Rasso graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida with a B.A. in English and marketing. She has worked as a writing consultant, an editor for a literary journal, and an editor for an academic journal. She has 2+ years experience tutoring writing, English, history, and test prep, as well as experience tutoring ESL students. She is currently working as a freelance editor and writer for a multitude of marketing firms, and tutors all subjects up to the college level.
Laurie is originally from New Hampshire where she graduated as Valedictorian from Exeter High School. After relocating to Florida, she worked as a director for the Investment Corp of Palm Beach for 15 years, during which time she earned her bachelor’s degree in computer information systems/business from Florida Atlantic University with a 4.0 gpa. After spending two years at home with her three small children, she found her niche as a tutor working with equestrian homeschool students. She has more than 10 years of experience as an SAT/ACT instructor and is now a certified professional Florida math educator.
Katie graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management. She went on to earn her MBA, also at Carlson, with an emphasis in Marketing and also completed pre-med requirements for the Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Katie has been riding since the age of 8 and understands the challenges that face elite equestrians and their educational needs outside of the traditional school setting. She has experience tutoring primary education math and reading as well as graduate level courses. Her interests include yoga, swimming, and horses of course!
Vanessa is an educator, mathematician, and engineer who enjoys teaching people how to do and use mathematics to achieve academic goals. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Art degree in Mathematics. Along with years of industry experience in the software engineering field, she also has years of classroom teaching experience with a variety of learners, from those struggling with the material to those who display talent in the subject, to help the students achieve higher grades, pass tests, improve study skills, strengthen work ethic, and subsequently increase self-confidence. She specializes in the subjects of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics.
Harlan attended the University of Massachusetts at Boston, earning a Bachelors degree in Economics with a concentration in development. He was a member of the NCAA varsity baseball team, balancing athletics and academics while maintaining high academic standing on the Dean’s list. Since his graduation in 2015, he has been educating young equestrian athletes in Wellington, specializing in helping students in Economics and Humanities. In the summer he manages marketing and events at Greenwich Polo Club in Greenwich, CT.
Dr. Melmed’s education includes a Ph.D. in chemistry from Columbia University. He has taught all levels of chemistry on both a high school and college level, and was appointed Science Department Chair for grades K – 12. He was also appointed to be a Master Teacher by the administration of the private school where he taught for many years. In addition, Dr. Melmed has extensive experience in the environmental sciences, having worked for a corporation that won a contract to serve as a consultant to the Environmental Protection Agency for many years.
